Bellevue Woman’s Club History

The Bellevue Woman’s Club was formed in 1924 and federated and affiliated with the International General Federation of Woman’s Clubs and the Nebraska Federation in 1925; and became a Nebraska Nonprofit Corporation in 2018.  The same year the Club affiliated with the  Midlands Community Foundation (MCF) and became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under their umbrella.

For its 90th Anniversary in April 2015, Bellevue Mayor Rita Sanders awarded “The Jewel of Bellevue” to the group.

The Club turned 100 years old in April 2024.  celebrating not only a century of service to the community but 54 years of continuous sponsorship of its signature event, a Style Show Luncheon.  Celebrity models in 2024 were  Shannon Howard, wife of 55th Wing Commander, Offutt AFB and Joanna Hike, wife of Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike.  Former First Lady Sally Ganem and Nebraska Legislator Carol Blood were in attendance.  At least six community nonprofits have received $1000 grants for the past five years.

Early donations were to the first Bellevue Library , first city swimming pool, and expanding the capabilities of the first Bellevue Fire and Rescue Squad.   The Club continues its rich tradition of involvement in the Sarpy County community.  Listed below are organizations the club has supported in recent years by providing financial assistance, volunteering and/or in other ways.

100 Year Celebration

    Recognition for the 100th Year celebration included:

    • being read into the records of the U.S. House of Representatives by Representative Mike Flood
    • a proclamation by Governor Jim Pillen declaring March 23, 2024, as Bellevue Woman’s Club Day in the State of Nebraska
    • proclamation by Bellevue Mayor Rusty Hike declaring April 16, 2024 as Bellevue Woman’s Club Day in Bellevue
    • congratulatory letters from U.S. Senator Deb Fisher and Nebraska Legislator Rita Sanders

    An exhibit dedicated to Bellevue Woman’s Club’s  Century of Service will be on display at the Sarpy County Museum in the last quarter of 2024.

    The 100 Acts of Kindness campaign was kicked off at the Style Show Luncheon and will culminate in a Christmas tree at the Sarpy County Museum decorated with Angels that represent the many acts of kindness citizens have performed during the year.
